“Patricia has taught me to speak French even though I am an adult who had NO prior experience speaking the language! Learning another language can be challenging but Patricia has a dynamic, organized method of teaching that is extremely effective and enjoyable. She employs numerous teaching methods from workbooks and DVDs, to music, book, and film recommendations in order to bring the language and culture of France to her students. She spends considerable time engaging her students in conversation and is able to do this in an unintimidating, engaging manner. Having a thorough command of French grammar and usage rules, she teaches in a progressive way as the proficiency of the student grows. Further, she teaches easy to remember tips to help students remember the more difficult grammar rules. It has been an incredible experience to learn to communicate in another language and Patricia’s approach proved invaluable!I would highly recommend Patricia to anyone who would like to learn French.”

“As a former French teacher and having studied for a year in France, I can honestly say that Patricia Chevalier is a fabulous French teacher. I have been her student for about 6 years. She is dedicated and devoted to helping me maintain and improve my French language skills, and most importantly, she makes the lessons FUN. The lesson time goes by so fast, I hate to see her go. She has even taught me the subjunctive by having me listen to a French rock song on my computer. I learn French culture, and we have enjoyed together the beautiful poetry of Ronsard and Baudelaire. I am delighted with my improvement in French and highly recommend Patricia as a gifted teacher.”

"These are comments about my French lessons with Patricia Chevalier. Let me begin by saying I do not write reviews or comments unless the subject is very good or very bad. Patricia is exceptional as a teacher and as a person. Patricia worked with me for a little less than five months. I feel that she has prepared me very well for my upcoming trip to France. I feel that the primary reason for my success is her teaching method. Each lesson proceeds in natural order and is the foundation for the next. Linguistic building blocks which invariably lead to a logical construction.
There are many advantages to private lessons with Patricia rather than just books, videos, software programs or YouTube. One learns proper pronunciation with constant and consistent reminders. Proper grammar instruction is taught and reinforced during pronunciation practice. The forgotten aspect of her method is the ear. It is more important to understand what is being said and she has taken extraordinary steps to develop my ear; my ability to listen to native French speakers.
The most important benefit to being with Patricia is that she has taught me the intangibles about French culture that only a native knows; when properly constructed sentences convey a different meaning than intended or are inadvertently offensive and how to use different ways to convey my thoughts as intended inoffensively. I know this will make my interactions more pleasant and rewarding.
In short, I highly recommend Patricia as a dedicated, knowledgeable, caring teacher whose wonderful personality added to my experience."

“Patricia is extremely accommodating and a wonderful teacher. She worked with me to determine how much high school French I remembered and focused her teaching on what I needed while making the learning fun. I was traveling to France and Patricia geared my learning toward what I would need to know for the trip like food, shopping, hotels, car rentals, directions, communicating with locals, etc. - I was definitely prepared for whatever I would encounter. She is encouraging yet pushes you to get where you want to be. She covered both book and CD learning and even copied some French songs so I could listen and learn to translate. She knew exactly what I needed to understand the language and the culture. She was flexible when my work schedule changed and went beyond what I would have expected. I will definitely be working with Patricia again when I can schedule the classes. I can think of nothing that Patricia needed to do to improve my experience - I think she's perfect and a delight to work with!”

“Mme Chevalier is a fantastic French tutor. She has my children totally engaged when teaching them and she makes the lessons fun. I have been quizzing my girls (ages 5 and 8) on certain phrases and vocabulary, and I am absolutely amazed with how much they know after working with Mme Chevalier for under a year. The other things that impresses me about Mme Chevalier is that she provides a thorough review of what the children learned in their lesson, where and how they can review between lessons and what they will be doing in the upcoming weeks. I am so happy I found Mme Chevalier for my girls and I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting to learn French.”

"I have been taking French lessons with Patricia Chevalier for almost a year and usually average 2 hours a week for one long session. I have tried a few other tutors but find Patricia the most compatible for my learning style. I like how she incorporates different learning elements into each lesson, such as conversation, listening and repeating, building new vocabulary and grammar. I also get weekly homework, which helps to reinforce the new material.
She always manages to keep each lesson lively and interesting, inspiring me to want to learn more. I plan on continuing under her tutelage and feel that with our combined efforts I should be able to become proficient in the French language one day.
I highly recommend her..."
